About Me & Commissions

Just over three years into my jewelry-making journey, my passion for the craft has only grown stronger. Every sale makes it possible to push further creatively and explore new techniques. This past year, I was thrilled to establish a small glassworking studio in my father's workshop — and with continued practice and patience, you can expect to see that work reflected in my shop throughout 2026.

GorgesWireDesign is a one-woman operation. I'm Hannah, and I personally handle every aspect of the business — from design and fabrication to photography, marketing, and cataloging. When you place an order, it ships directly from me, handcrafted in Ithaca, New York. No drop shipping, no outsourcing — just genuine, handmade work.

This shop wouldn't exist without the encouragement of family and friends who believed in my work before I had the confidence to share it. What began as a love of all things that glitter and sparkle has grown into a true passion for creating beautiful, wearable pieces — for special occasions, everyday wear, and everything in between.

My mission is simple: to design and craft pieces that are entirely one-of-a-kind, that could never be mass-produced, and that are made with real care and intention. Purchasing from GorgesWireDesign means owning something genuinely unique — made by hand, by a real person, from a real small business.

If you don't see something that speaks to you, I warmly invite you to favorite the shop and check back often, or reach out about a custom commission. I'm happy to work within your budget and can source beautiful, locally trusted stones to bring your vision to life.

How Commissions Work:
1. I will ask the following information:
- Your budget
- Your timeline (when you need the piece by, if it's for someone special or an event)
- Any other specific requests: metal type, gemstones, etc.
- This is also the time to send references, sketches, and have conversations about the piece you'd like.

2. I will quote you the work (if it's within my scope of skill), and ask for 25% non-refundable down payment by creating a private digital listing for you to purchase. This is to cover my initial costs of anything I need to buy or restock (metals, beads, cabochons, etc).

3. Once the listing has been purchased, I will get to work and update you along the way!

4. Having to redo the piece may include an additional charge based on metal type and additional resources and may increase the final cost by 150%. For example, if you are quoted $50 for a piece, you'll pay a non-refundable down payment of $12.50, and once I'm finished you would owe the $37.50 remaining, assuming there are no issues. If there are major changes needed that require large adjustments or scraping, depending on the metal, the additional cost could increase by as much as $25 due to metal prices & time. In the end costing a total of $75. Please consider this when requesting major revisions.

5. Once the piece is complete, I will post a private physical item listing for you to purchase the final product. Once purchased, I will ship the piece out to you!
