Lampworking is a beautiful glass craft where artisans use a direct and HOT flame (2000+ degrees F) to melt glass and form it into beads and other creations. Some metals will take longer than others but they are all affected by normal wear. In order to maximize the longevity of your jewelry’s shine, consider the following care instructions:

1. Try to keep your jewelry in a closed jewelry box or other container and stored as far away as possible from humid areas like your bathroom, kitchen, or outside areas. The presence of water will take the shine out of your jewelry and lead to an overall dull appearance and tarnished look. Try to avoid swimming with jewelry in chlorinated water if at all possible, harsh chemicals and water will do a number on your jewelry! Consider removing pieces before jumping into the pool or hot tub!
2. If you want to clean your jewelry, or would like to bring the shine back, do not use any chemicals that are not approved to clean your jewelry. Things that can clean jewelry are officially marked products that are safe for brass, copper, and silver. You may also put a small drop of dish soap on a soft bristled toothbrush and brush the piece clean, just make sure that you fully dry it with a microfiber cloth or something that won’t leave fibers.
